This is a cover record. I did not write these songs: Leonard Cohen did, with a little help from his friends. I'm Your Man came out in in 1988. I owned it on cassette and listened to it a lot. Like the best pop artifacts from the late 80s, it is deeply weird and oddly cool. The album means a lot to me, for reasons I'd be hard pressed to explain. These days, its air of apocalyptic dread and creeping authoritarianism seems more relevant than ever.

So some time back I got the idea to try to play these songs in a new way, as a tribute to a great songwriter and poet and a kind of re-working or re-imagining of the rich material he created. Then things, as things do, took their own course. Not that the songs needed me to do this, or that I bettered them in any way; it was just damn fun to do this. And my wish is that it is fun for you to hear.

Any proceeds will go to the production of more music.
